Medical Cannabis Care Across Costa Rica

Cura Vida is a virtual clinic. We do not run walk-in offices, and we do not need to. Consultations with our cannabis-certified physicians take place over secure video, so the same standard of care reaches San José, Guanacaste, Limón, the Pacific coast and the Southern Zone without anyone driving to the Central Valley.

Telehealth Available Nationwide

Secure video consultations for patients anywhere in Costa Rica, and from abroad before you arrive.

Provinces We Serve

All seven provinces sit inside our service area. The towns listed below are simply where patients most often consult from.

San José

The Central Valley is where most of our patients live and work. Consultations run over video from home or the office, so there is no drive across the city and no waiting room.

Patients often consult from: San José centro, Escazú, Santa Ana, Curridabat, San Pedro, Desamparados

Alajuela

From the airport corridor out to Arenal, patients choose a time that suits them and meet their physician online. Progress reviews at one, three and eight months work the same way.

Patients often consult from: Alajuela centro, Grecia, Atenas, San Ramón, Naranjo, La Fortuna

Cartago

Distance from a specialist clinic is not a barrier here. Your medical record, your prescription and your follow-up reviews are all handled digitally.

Patients often consult from: Cartago centro, Paraíso, Turrialba, Orosi, La Unión

Heredia

Patients in the northern Central Valley and out towards Sarapiquí see the same physicians as everyone else, on the same schedule.

Patients often consult from: Heredia centro, Santo Domingo, San Isidro, Belén, Sarapiquí

Guanacaste

Residents, long-stay visitors and digital nomads on the north Pacific consult from the coast rather than travelling to the Central Valley. Appointments can be scheduled around a foreign time zone if you are arranging care before you arrive.

Patients often consult from: Liberia, Tamarindo, Nosara, Sámara, Playas del Coco, Nicoya, Santa Cruz

Puntarenas

The central Pacific, the Southern Zone and the Osa Peninsula are among the furthest points in the country from a specialist clinic, which is precisely why this care is delivered by video.

Patients often consult from: Puntarenas centro, Jacó, Quepos, Manuel Antonio, Dominical, Uvita, Ojochal, Monteverde, Santa Teresa, Golfito, Puerto Jiménez

Limón

Caribbean-side patients meet the same cannabis specialists as the rest of the country, without the journey over the mountains.

Patients often consult from: Limón centro, Puerto Viejo, Cahuita, Guápiles, Siquirres, Talamanca

How Care Reaches You

The route from first contact to a filled prescription is the same wherever you live.

  1. 1. Free online evaluation

You complete a short cannabis evaluation from any device. There is no cost and no clinic visit.

  2. 2. Video consultation

A physician certified in cannabis medicine reviews your history over secure video and builds a treatment plan around your condition.

  3. 3. Digital prescription

Law 10113 requires a digital prescription issued by a licensed physician. Yours is issued from your medical record during the consultation, so nothing is printed or carried.

  4. 4. Pharmacy fulfilment

The prescription is sent electronically to Farmacia Azul, our accredited pharmacy partner. You choose counter collection or home delivery.

Coverage Questions

Do I need to visit a clinic in person?

No. Cura Vida is a virtual clinic. Every consultation, including the first one, takes place over secure video, and your prescription is issued digitally.

Which parts of Costa Rica do you cover?

All seven provinces: San José, Alajuela, Cartago, Heredia, Guanacaste, Puntarenas and Limón. If you have a stable internet connection, you are inside our service area.

Can I consult from outside Costa Rica?

Yes. Expats, medical tourists and digital nomads regularly complete an initial consultation and follow-up reviews from another time zone, long before they arrive in the country.

Where is my prescription filled?

At an approved pharmacy, as Law 10113 requires. Your specialist sends it electronically to Farmacia Azul, our accredited pharmacy partner, and you choose counter collection or home delivery.

Are consultations available in English and Spanish?

Yes. You choose your preferred language when you book, and the consultation is held in that language.

Start From Wherever You Are

The evaluation is free and takes a few minutes. A physician reviews it and tells you whether medical cannabis is appropriate for your condition.
